Approximately an hour later she returned to the vehicle and the child was gone, the news release said.

She called police around 9:50 a.m., about an hour after she initially left her car, which was described as an older silver Acura, said Bellevue police spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate.

The boy's mother had parked her car in an area that is close to Interstate 405 on the east side and with businesses, a residential neighborhood and a wooded area on the other side of the road, Iafrate said.

"It's really complicating the search," she said. "You've got the wooded area, you've got the complex and you've got the homes."

Iafrate said that the car didn't appear to be broken into.

"We're investigating all options," she said.

The Seattle Times reported the boy's mother is from Redmond and is working with a detective.

The child, Sky Metalwala, is half-Indian and half-white, brown eyes, dark buzz cut hair, with a dark green hooded sweatshirt, with blue and gray striped Carter pants. The attached picture is exactly what he is wearing when he went missing, according to the police.

A reverse 9-1-1 call has been placed out in the area where the child was last seen. King County Search and Rescue tracking dogs are on scene searching for the child. If anyone finds or sees a child matching this description, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
