Frank Lloyd Wright Home for Sale in Sammamish

The 1,900-square-foot Brandes house on Pine Lake Plateau is for sale for $1.45 million. It's one of three Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes in Washington.

The Brandes House, one of only three Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes in Washington, is for sale.

The home, which is tucked away on 3.25 acres on Pine Lake Plateau on 212th Ave. SE in Sammamish, was added to the National Historic Register in 1994.

The house was built in 1953 by Ray Brandes’ construction company in Wright’s “Usonian” style, a spare form designed to be affordable, with no basements and low roofs.

Now it’s on the market for $1.45 million. It was last purchased in 2008 from relatives of Brandes for $1.5 million, but the current owners plan to retire elsewhere, said Jane Powers, one of the listing agents for the property.

The real estate listing for the 1,900-square-foot home describes it as having an open floor plan, floor-to-ceiling windows, cantelevered overhangs, redwood millwork, concrete floors, clerestory windows and fused glass corner windows. Other features include rare and colorful plantings of horticultural interest and very private gated grounds. It has three bedrooms, one and three quarter baths, and two fireplaces.
