Pet of the Week: Norah the Miniature Poodle

Meet Norah, an 11-pound miniature poodle in need of a loving home.

Picture this: You're sitting in your favorite chair by a cozy fire, a warm cup of tea in hand. But something is missing. You feel lonely, a little bored and wish you had an easy dog that could fit in well with your quiet lifestyle. Norah, our Pet of the Week, might be just who you need to light up your life and get you out of the doldrums.

Norah is a darling 11-pound miniature poodle. Her elderly owner neglected her so she was in bad shape when she first arrived at . Since then, however, she has perked up quite well. She has been cleaned up and groomed, given all of her shots, spayed and is scheduled for a dental. She is almost brand new without the work and destruction of a puppy!

Norah is the perfect age (9 years) to fit in very easily in a new home. She still has a lot of life left in her, and really deserves it considering the situation she had been in before getting to rescue. She is just waiting for a second chance at a loving place to live.

Norah is easy. All she needs is a warm lap, a nice cuddly bed and an easy walk around the block. She is a great dog for someone that is home much of the day and is looking for a friendly companion to share the day with. Norah gets along fine with other dogs, and with a proper introduction, doesn’t seem to have interest in cats. She is doing very well with housebreaking and easily goes into her crate.

Notes from Norah's Foster Home: Norah is a quiet, loving dog. She enjoys being by her people and is content to curl up on the couch or bed next to them if allowed. She gets along well with her foster's big dog and doesn't seem to have any kind of prey drive for the local squirrels so we think she'd be fine with cats, although a proper introduction will be important.

She is very sweet and gentle. She will come if you call her and put your hand out, but she's a bit apprehensive about being petted until she trusts you and realizes that you won't hurt her. She is great about going into her crate and sleeps there all night quietly.

She's a quiet, easy dog but she also has a silly, smiley side. Although she's a little older, she still has a lot of life left and is so deserving of a loving home after the neglect she suffered! Could that home be yours?

Norah will bring joy and companionship to anyone that is willing to share their lap with her. If you are older or know someone who is, contact Motley Zoo at www.motleyzoo.org or adopt@motleyzoo.org to bring Norah into your life.

Motley Zoo does not have a shelter, but instead houses all its homeless dogs and cats in loving foster homes. There is an adoption donation for all pets in order to help pay for their spaying/neutering, shots and care. In addition, this money goes toward the continued rescue work of Motley Zoo.

Adoption Update: was recently adopted by a Patch reader. Congratulations Ally!
