Redmond Patch Week in Review
Here's a roundup of some of our top stories from the past seven days.
Monday: Ashley Walls of the Overlake Civil Air Patrol shared the story of a pararescuer from Redmond who is currently serving in Afghanistan. Staff Sergeant Robert Trubee followed in his father's footsteps by enlisting in the Air Force, making the two just the fifth father-son pararescuer duo.
Tuesday: Students and staff at Eastlake High School in Sammamish were saddened to learn of the passing of school resource officer Stan Chapin, a veteran King County Sheriff's deputy who had served in Sammamish since its inception. Chapin will be remembered at a public memorial service in Bothell on Tuesday.
Wednesday: We brought you the inspiring story of a Redmond third-grader who is reaching out to the local homeless population by sewing extra scraps of material into new blankets. Eight-year-old Faith has teamed up with Redmond-based Homeless Outreach to continue to find ways to help the less fortunate in her community.
Thursday: Today's Redmond Police blotter included information about a "bomb" scare that was caused by a misheard conversation at a Redmond apartment complex involving a similar-sounding piece of drug paraphernalia. One person was arrested on suspicion of obstruction after he allegedly helped his friends flee the scene.
Friday: Have you been to Cavalia yet? I finally had the chance to it out this week and gave my two cents in this review. Bottom line: the skill of the performers is the real magic of the show.

Sunday: Redmond City Council member Hank Myers voiced his approval of state Sen. Andy Hill (R-Redmond)'s recent vote in favor of the state's same-sex marriage bill. Hill had said been saying he was undecided prior to the vote.
