Call for volunteers – VALA Art Center Steward

VALA, Venues for Artists in the Local Area, Eastside, is a 501c3, non-profit arts organization committed to connecting artists to artists, artists to the community, and the community to art. We are thrilled to be opening the new VALA Art Center, located in the Redmond Town Center, where we will feature artist residencies, installations by local artists, public community events, and educational programs for all ages. We hope the VALA Art Center will become a hotspot for artists in the community to meet, share and create.

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity use your skills, connect with artists and the public while helping operate this very special community public art venue in Redmond. You don’t have to be an artist to volunteer with VALA. We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about art, enjoy interacting with the public and feel committed to raising awareness about art in our community.

 Responsibilities include:

 - Opening and/or closing the center

- Greeting guests as they arrive

- Distributing information about VALA and our programming

- Familiarizing yourself with the artwork on display and directing visitors to artist contact information

- Other opportunities may become available

If you want to become more connected with the Redmond art scene and are interested in volunteering, please fill out a Volunteer Application at www.valaeastside.org/volunteeropportunities and return to:

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
