Public Invited to Experience the Culture of India at Diwali 2012

Members of the public are invited to commemorate Diwali, a Hindu celebration known as the "festival of lights," at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center from noon to 7 p.m. on Nov. 4, 2012. The free event will be hosted by BAPS-Seattle, a nonprofit Hindu organization.

This year's festival, dubbed "Diwali 2012-Experience the Culture of India," will feature cultural displays, live performances, children's activities and more.

The event will also include a grand Annakut display—a religious offering of more than 300 types of food.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
