Redmond High Students Receive Rotary Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Redmond presented scholarships to three seniors at a June 2 meeting at the Redmond Marriott.

Jeffrey Alan McNerney, Ila Srivastava and Savannah Ledgerwood each received $2,500 in funds to support college attendance and entry into their chosen career. Club President David Markley made the presentation.

Srivastava plans to attend the University of California, Berkeley and pursue opportunities for cancer research. Ledgerwood will attend the University of Washington and wants to become a dentist. McNerney will also attend UW.

“These are exceptional students who share Rotary’s focus on community service," Rotary Scholarship Committee Chair Sue Mills said. "We are very proud to recognize their achievements and honor them at this time.”

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
