Redmond Resident Kaelyn Lefferts Plays Young Clara in EBT's 'Nutcracker'

Emerald Ballet Theatre's sixth annual "Nutcracker" will be held on December 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 2:00pm at the Northshore Performing Arts Center in Bothell.

During the first weekend, young Clara will be played by Redmond resident Kaelyn Lefferts. Thirteen-year-old Kaelyn is a 7th grader in Vista at Open Window School in Bellevue. She started dancing when she was 2. This is her fourth year at Bellevue's Emerald Ballet Academy, where she dances at least five days per week. Kaelyn also takes a class from her mother, Terrel Lefferts, who teaches dance for Redmond Parks and Recreation.

Kaelyn and nearly 200 other EBA students will share the stage with regional dance professionals, stellar guest artists from San Francisco Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, and the Rainier Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets to this family favorite are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors and $20 for youth. They are available at www.npacf.org or by calling 425-984-2471.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
