Waste Management Throws 'Green' Birthday Party for Redmond Boy

Waste Management held a contest this summer at the Issaquah Salmon Days Festival. Redmond resident Zachary Eversole won! His parents, Adam and Lisa Eversole held a Waste Management Green Birthday Party for him this past weekend. Happy Birthday, Zachary!

WM started the party with a WM driver and a CNG truck. WM entertained questions from the kids, let the kids explore the truck, and Chuck the Cart even made an appearance for a special photo-op. Zachary, the birthday boy, was particularly excited when WM gave him his own WM hard hat with his name on it -he wore it the whole day!

After saying goodbye to the truck, WM played the Wheel of Waste with Zachary and his friends. WM followed with a recycling relay, a scavenger hunt through the yard and the party ended with WM piñata made by Zachary’s mom and dad.

WM provided reusable bags for the kids to store their piñata treats. Zachary’s family made a WM cake to complete the party theme. WM finished up with an educational reuse activity, where the kids made origami plant pots, and planted their own broccoli seeds to take home.

It was a wonderful day!

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
