Winter Potato Harvests for Food Banks

Our goal each week is to harvest 1500 pounds of potatoes, splitting 50/50 with the farmer, and sending 750 pounds to Hope Link and Maltby Food Banks.  Over the course of the harvest we hope to send 7,000 pounds-28,000 servings--valued at $10,000, to the Food Bank.

A mechinical harvester will do the digging and lay the spuds on top of the row.  Our work is to gather them into bins.

Wear rubber boots and rubber gloves and dress for the late winter weather.

Please contact Jim.Eichner@comcast.net, as each week we will be at the mercy of the weather.

Our 2013 goal is to grow and deliver 25,000 pounds--100,000 servings of food--valued at $37,500, to area Food Banks.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
