Is Your Son Interested in Trying a New Sport?

Have you ever thought about lacrosse?  The sport is the fastest growing youth sport in the country and the reason is clear; the sport is both fun to play and to watch. Now your son can try out the sport risk free. This coming Saturday, December 7th Redmond Lacrosse is holding a clinic in Redmond Ridge where your son can test drive lacrosse.

The clinic will be held from 10 AM until 2 PM at Bristol Park, on Eastridge in the Redmond Ridge East-Brighton Neighborhood. The event is open to anyone grades K-12. During your time there at the clinic, your son will be introduced to some stick skills and live drills. You will also be able to watch some live lacrosse scrimmage so you can better understand how the game is played.

Lacrosse is a quick paced sport where everyone on the team plays. It is a high scoring, timed sport with no rainouts. Games typically last an hour and a half. It is a sport that allows players to play the sport and improve their skills as they advance through school. The opportunity to play in college is also available. Boys who enjoy active sports like soccer, football, baseball or basketball will enjoy lacrosse! The Redmond Lacrosse Club provides an organized, safe, fun and competitive program for all boys that live within the Redmond High School or Cedarcrest High School boundaries.

As a spring sport, our season runs from March through the end of June.  Lacrosse is a team sport of Native American origin. It is played using a small rubber ball and long-handled stick called a lacrosse stick.  The boy’s/men’s version of the game is a contact sport which requires padding, cleats and a helmet. Each team has ten players on the field at a time and the objective is to pass, catch, shoot and defend other players. Teams are awarded one point for each goal scored. It is fast paced like basketball, played on a big field like soccer, involves passing, speed and teamwork. No matter what body type your son has, they can be successful in lacrosse.

“If you or your son are unsure about lacrosse, I suggest you come out and try the sport risk free at an upcoming Redmond Lacrosse Clinic”, says Blair Busenbark, President of the Redmond Lacrosse Club, “Once your son tries the sport out, they will be hooked on lacrosse because it is simply fun to play.” Registration is open now through December 31, 2013.
