City Postpones Farrel-McWhirter Horse Show

Concerns about the Equine Herpes virus (EHV-1) have prompted event organizers to push the event back to July 10.

The Farrel-McWhirter Riding Club 2011 Benefit Schooling Show, scheduled for June 12 has been postponed due to concerns about the recent outbreak of the Equine Herpes virus (EHV-1).

Eight cases of the virus have been confirmed in Washington state as of Thursday, according to the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Nearly all of those cases have occurred in Eastern Washington, with the exception of one case in Thurston County.

The Farrel-McWhirter event is rescheduled for Sunday, July 10, beginning at 9 a.m. All pre-registration paperwork and entry fees currently submitted for the June date will be held for the new date in July.
