Kirkland Classic Car Show Revs Up at Marina Park Saturday and Sunday

About 400 hot rods, classics, customs, muscle cars and motorcycles are expected for the one of the biggest car shows on the Eastside on Saturday and Sunday.

Rev 'em up: The 10th annual Kirkland Classic Car Show - muscle cars, hot rods, ‘Vettes, coupes and more - will roll into this weekend, starting at 3 p.m. Saturday with a “Cruise-In” preview and dance.

Sponsored by the Legends Pacific Northwest Car Club and the Kirkland Downtown Association (KDA), the show is free to the public and one of the biggest car shows on the Eastside. It typically draws about 400 mostly American autos and motorcycles.

Trophies will be given to the top 10 cars after the Cruise-In preview, with the free dance starting at 7 p.m. at the Marina Park gazebo, to the rocking tunes of the band 24 Diesel.

The main show on Sunday starts at 10 a.m., with rides spread out over the Marina Park parking lot and along Kirkland Avenue. Trophies will be awarded in 21 categories.

"The show includes everything from probably 1919 all the way up: Muscle cars, hot rods, Corvettes, classics, customs, stock cars, stock trucks, full custom," said Alan Weiskind, show director and Legends Club member - who has 17 cars of his own. "I've been getting a lot of calls from people who have never come to the show" who are planning on bringing their cars.

Proceeds are split between the club, which donates all profits to charity, including the Forgotten Children's Fund, and the KDA, which promotes events in town and is affiliated with the .

"This is our tenth year in downtown Kirkland, and I believe the show is the second largest annual event there, next to the Fourth of July celebration," Weiskind said.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
