Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service: Projects in Redmond and Nearby

Are you looking for a Day of Service project in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.? The Green Redmond Partnership is hosting three work parties.

If you are looking for a Day of Service project in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., whose birthday will be observed as a federal holiday next Monday, there are several resources online that can help.

The United Way of King County has a website that lists numerous Day of Service projects, including work parties at Grass Lawn Park, Westside Park and the Watershed Preserve, all hosted by the Green Redmond Partnership. (Click on links for info or to register.)

The Presidential Inauguration Committee also has put together a list of service projects throughout the country. You can find several volunteer opportunities in Seattle, and this one in Issaquah:

Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank- Come Stock and Sort!, Saturday, Jan. 19.

If you are looking for more long-term service and volunteer projects, try http://volunteermatch.org.

If you know of other volunteer opportunities in Redmond and around the area, feel free to add them in the comments, or post a FREE announcement calling for volunteers.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
