Pet of the Week: Jasper the German Shepherd Mix

This well-behaved pooch has epilepsy and is in need of an owner who is available to give him his meds twice a day.

Japser is a special needs 3½-year-old German Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix looking for a special owner who works from home or is otherwise able to spend some extra time around him.

This well-behaved canine has from epilepsy and needs to take meds twice a day. Jasper was surrendered to Redmond-based Motley Zoo Animal Rescue by an owner who could not be home enough to adequately control his seizures.

Notes from Jasper's Foster Home: Jasper is a VERY sweet boy and is very obedient. He needs twice daily medications to help control his seizures so his ideal forever home has at least one family member who works from home so that he gets his meds on time and so that they can respond quickly if he has a seizure. He is great with all ages of people and is very friendly. He gets along with most dogs (He does best when off leash at a dog park; he can be reactive when on leash). He is an easily correctable dog as he has had basic obedience training, and he's a smart, calm boy. However, he also enjoys a good game of fetch and enjoys chasing and chewing on tennis balls or just about anything you can throw. Although he is "special needs," we think he's just special and can't wait for him to find the right forever home where he can be safe, happy, and his seizures can be well managed!

All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.

If you are interested in adopting Jasper, please visit www.motleyzoo.org  or www.motleyzoo.petfinder.com.

Motley Zoo Rescue of Redmond is a nonprofit animal rescue organization that is run by volunteers. Motley Zoo Rescue does not have a shelter location but instead houses all of its needy pets in foster homes.

Motley Zoo is always looking for foster homes. Fostering is a great way to "test out" your family to see if you are ready for a permanent pet. Call 206-453-8480 or e-mail volunteer@motleyzoo.org for more information.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
