Pet of the Week: Khloe, the Chihuahua-Terrier Mix

Despite a tough beginning, Khloe is more than ready for a special family to adopt her.

Khloe is a darling Chihuahua-terrier mix who is about 3 years old.  Motley Zoo Animal Rescue of Redmond rescued her after she was surrendered to a local veterinarian due to medical expenses. She had been shot by someone with a BB gun and was going to require surgery. Her leg was actually broken due to the shot. Soon her cast will be off and she will be ready to run around again.

Khloe is great with other dogs, although she likes those equal to her size best. She also enjoys children (8 years and older, please) and in addition to being crate trained, she is housebroken. She should be fine with cats, although she has not been tested with them yet. Usually, when a dog is being introduced to a cat, it is a slow and patient process.

Khloe is very sweet and affectionate. Her foster mom describes her as “very friendly to people.” She was surrendered with puppies (can you imagine?) so she was preoccupied with them when she first arrived.  Some days she is a bit subdued due to her leg, but Khloe is getting playful and her personality is coming out as she starts to feel better.

As with all foster dogs in Motley Zoo’s care, she will be spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and flea treated. Please see www.motleyzoo.org for further information on Khloe as well as pictures of all the dogs and cats in foster care. Once you fill out an adoption form and are approved as an adopter, Motley Zoo will arrange a time for you to meet Khloe or another pet you might be interested in. All of Motley Zoo’s animals are cared for by volunteers in private foster homes. All adoption fees go toward the veterinarian care and transport of the animals. Each dog receives a harness and leash as well as 30 days of free pet insurance.
