Pet of the Week: Vlad, the Pomeranian Mix

This is a little different type of pet for the Pet of the Week feature. Vlad, soon to be renamed, was brought into a Washington animal shelter with some serious health issues. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue of Redmond scooped him up and have commited to bringing him back to health.

Vlad is a darling Pomeranian mix and about 7 years old. It is easy to have your heart melt over him, even before you hear his story. 

Notes From his Motley Zoo Foster Home

Vlad had an old injury on his front leg that healed incorrectly. It was causing so much pain that the vet recommended amputation. Most likely, it was broken and then healed badly.

He is recovering from this surgery now and getting used to being a "tripod." In addition, he has bladder stones and a collapsed trachea. We expect he will recover from all of this, but he's in for quite a recovery and will need some TLC (tender and loving care) to get through it.

Vlad is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with 30 days of free pet insurance provided by Shelter Care. 

Right now everyone is concentrating on getting Vlad healthy, and after having surgery, he will need some time to let his personality blossom. He is an exceptionally sweet boy, who cannot wait to find a forever family. If you are interested in adopting Vlad, please contact Motley Zoo. Most likely, he will stay with his foster home for a little while until he feels better and can be adopted into a permanent family. Despite his feeling uncomfortable, however, his nice temperament is shining through. As a small dog, the age of 7 is not very old, so he should have some great years left to enjoy with a special owner.

Motley Zoo is a nonprofit organization run by volunteers. It does not have an actual shelter, but instead houses all its needy pets in foster homes. All potential adopters fill out an application and then arrangements are made to see the dog or cat. The adoption donation goes toward helping Motley Zoo continue to save and support the needy dogs and cats in its foster home program.
