Viewfinder: Polar Plunge Participants Dive into a New Year

The annual Polar Plunge event raised nearly $11,000 for Special Olympics Washington.

Dozens of Redmond swimmers started the new year with a frigid jaunt into Lake Sammamish as part of the annual Polar Plunge.

The event at has raised $10,886 as of Sunday afternoon, according to the Redmond Polar Plunge website. The 's team was the plunge's top fundraiser, brining in $2,950, followed by the Issaquah Swim Team and the Ice Ryders.

Top individual fundraisers were Davin Alson, Ron Balazs, Ben & Keith Nussbaum, and Ken Kieffer.
