The city is providing incentives for commuters to use transit this week.

The City of Redmond's R-TRIP transportation program is celebrating Bus to Work Week by giving away T-shirts and other promotional items to transit commuters throughout the week.

Beginning Tuesday morning, representatives from R-TRIP, which stands for Redmond Trip Resource & Incentive Program, will be handing out free T-shirts to bus commuters at various transit stations around Redmond.

The first giveaway takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Bear Creek Transit Center. Other events are scheduled for 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Downtown Transit Center and from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Overlake Transit Center. T-shirts reading "I (bus) Redmond" and other free items will be given out to all riders while supplies last.

"It’s a fun opportunity to do outreach to current bus riders in Redmond and also to encourage others to try the bus," R-TRIP Employer Outreach Coordinator Jill Smith said in an email.

R-TRIP is also providing free 3-month ORCA passes to all new bus riders. Other transit incentives are listed on the R-TRIP website.
