Luxury Theater Presents Black Swan, Bloody Marys

Bagels and adult beverages will accompany the Oscar-nominated film at Big Picture Redmond.

Moviegoers wanting to put some extra spice in their outing can look forward to “Bloodys and Bagels” screening of Black Swan at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

The luxury movie theater in will offer a selection of bagels and cream cheese, along with the choice of a Bloody Mary or mimosa. The food and drink will accompany Black Swan, which is nominated for five Academy Awards.

“Bloodys and Bagels” is a Big Picture mainstay that occurs about every other month, with an increase around Oscar time to give audiences a chance to see the nominated films, said Kristen Foss, spokeswoman for the theater.

“We tend to show more ‘Bloodys and Bagels’ screenings then,” she said.

Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as a fragile ballerina who wins the coveted lead role in a reimagining of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, and must deal with the psychological horrors that accompany it. The film is nominated for Best Picture, Best Actress for Portman, Best Director for Darren Aronofsky, Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing.

Big Picture, which has a sister facility in Seattle, opened in Redmond in 2005. It offers space for meetings, gatherings and weddings, in addition to movie screenings restricted to patrons 21 and older. A full bar is available, with drinks delivered to your seat.

“It’s a unique experience, and it’s affordable,” Foss said.

Tickets for Sunday’s “Bloodys and Bagels” screening are $15 and available for purchase at Big Picture’s website. Doors open at 11 a.m.
