'Book Spine Poetry Contest' – Redmond Library Hosts Workshops for National Poetry Month

Can you create a poem using only a book title? The contest and other activities are being held at the Redmond Library throughout April in honor of National Poetry Month.

Update 9:30 a.m. Wednesday: Poem contest details - The poem must be made up entirely of the title words found on the spines of the our books.

Library patrons create their poem by stacking books together such that each book title is the line of a poem. The poem is read from left to right. Patrons write out their poem on an entry form, along with their contact information, and present the form and the stacked books to a staff member at the information Desk. Their entry is recorded, and they are eligible to win a prize.

The Redmond Association of Spokenword (RASP) is celebrating National Poetry Month with two teen workshops and a "book spine poetry contest" during the month of April.

The contest will include categories for both teens and adults and require entrants to make up poems based solely on the titles found on book spines. (See photo for example.)
