Lynnwood's Indigo Kitchen Serves up Affordable Food in a Classy Atmosphere

My husband and I go on a weekly date with the goal of keeping it under 20 bucks. This time, we attempted dinner and dessert. Find out if we made our budget!

I worked all day Saturday and came home late in the afternoon wanting to put my feet up and rest.

But, as you know, we made a commitment to weekly date nights.

Thankfully, hubby took the reigns and picked the city and the spot: Indigo Kitchen in Lynnwood.

We arrived to a packed parking lot, where Indigo was tucked in between a giant Fred Meyer and Starbucks. The restaurant sign stood out, lit up behind the fancy scrawled letters spelling: INDIGO.

We walked in to a row of folks, waiting for a seat. Our first thought, of course, was to find seats in the bar.

"How long of a wait?" we asked

""About 30 minutes, but we have seats open in the bar if you would like to sit there," the hostess offered.

Perfect! We turned to find a waiter setting a large table with silverware and neatly folded purple cloth napkins.

"Is anyone sitting here?" I asked.

"Nope, it's all yours," He said, as if he was expecting us.

It was so nice to know we wouldn't have to wait, and both of us don't mind sitting in the bar at all. In fact, their bar was spacious and private and I liked watching all the bartenders busily mixing and pouring drinks.

Lit candles were strategically placed throughout the restaurant. In the restaurant seating area, dim lights showcased the zigzag black cubbies, each holding a lit candle. What a unique touch...and very romantic.

Even the bar had votive candles scattered here and there, against deep plum-colored walls ( true to the restaurant's name, Indigo).

Our waiter was friendly and helpful and took our orders within a short amount of time. Since we were planning to get frozen yogurt for dessert, we were extra careful on what we ordered. A $20 date that includes dessert is not easy to do.

I'm glad to see you are tipping on the original total and not the discounted total. Indigo is great and their beer selection is one of the best I've seen outside downtown Bellevue.
