Ice Storm Warning Issued For Washington

Significant amounts of ice accumulations will make travel dangerous or impossible, according to the National Weather Service.

An ice storm warning has replaced the National Weather Service's winter weather advisory.

National Weather Service in Seattle has issued an ice storm warning for Western Washington state. Forecasts call for rain; however freeing surface temperatures will cause the precipitation to create an icy surface area.

The warning is in effect until noon Thursday, when temperatures are expected to increase.

“Significant amounts of ice accumulations will make travel dangerous or impossible,” according to the warning. “Commerce will likely be severely impacted.”

Today: Freezing rain likely before 10am, then a chance of rain between 10am and 4pm, then snow likely after 4pm. Snow level 400 feet. Cloudy, with a high near 37. North northwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. 

Tonight: Snow likely before 10pm, then rain likely. Snow level rising to 700 feet. Cloudy, with a low around 34. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
