New Year's Holiday: What's Open, What's Closed in Redmond

The holiday fell on Sunday, so some agencies and services will observe a holiday on Monday.

Happy New Year! Jan. 1 fell on a Sunday this year, and the federal holiday is being observed Monday. Here is a list of what’s open and what's closed:

  • Garbage Pickup (both Waste Management and Allied Waste): Normal schedule this week.
  • United States Postal Service: closed Monday. No mail delivery that day.
  • Liquor store: The downtown Redmond store will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, but the Redmond Ridge location will be closed.
  • : All King County libraries will be closed Sunday, Jan. 1. They will be open normal hours on Monday.
  • : Closed Monday.
  • Schools: Both Lake Washington and Northshore school districts are on winter break. LWSD classes resume Tuesday, while Northshore students will be back in class on Wednesday.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
