R-TRIP to Roll Out New Promotions for Using Alternative Transportation

Participants will be rewarded for walking, biking, riding transit or carpooling.

R-TRIP, a public-private partnership between local businesses and government organizations, will soon introduce new incentive programs for those who opt to walk, bike, use transit or carpool. R-TRIP stands for Redmond’s Trip Resource and Incentive Program.

According to a city news release, one of the new incentives will specifically target people who decide to use alternative transportation when traveling to the grocery store, library, the park or making other non work-related trips. The "Go Green Summer Challenge" will reward R-TRIP participants each time they make a "green trip" by automatically entering them into a drawing for various prizes, such as gift cards to local restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.

A second R-TRIP promotion invites participants to use Microsoft Tag, a mobile app, to track their commuting habits. Those who sign up for the program will be entered to win a variety of monthly prizes.
