Redmond Patch Week in Review

A recap of some of our top stories from the past seven days.

Here is a list of some of Redmond Patch's top stories from the past week. Read on to make sure you didn't miss out on what's happening around town.

Monday: We heard from Redmond High baseball player T.J. Whidby, who as the team began its post-season quest for a state title. T.J. writes a biweekly column for Redmond Patch called Diary of a Mustang. Check back next Monday for his thoughts on the season's conclusion.

Tuesday: Patch contributor Dusty Somers , a food cart that serves gourmet-style comfort food and has developed quite the following of loyal diners through online social media. Skillet has a rotating menu, but its two standbys — a burger and poutine — got Dusty's enthusiastic approval.

Wednesday: The U.S. Census Bureau that broke down Redmond's population by age, ethnicity and household size. By far the most significant change in the past 10 years was the city's Indian-American population, which more than quadrupled between 2000 and 2010.

Thursday: Redmond's business community , who delivered a "State of the City" address at a chamber of commerce luncheon earlier in the week. Marchione told business leaders the city government is working toward building vibrant urban areas while still providing housing options for residents.

Friday: Friday was Bike to Work Day all around the country, and Redmond cyclists taking advantage of some all-too-rare sunshine. More than 1,300 cyclists passed through Redmond's two commuter stations between 6 and 9 a.m.

Saturday: Redmond High baseball , handily defeating Olympia and Kentwood in the first two games of the 4A state playoffs on Saturday to earn a spot in the semifinals for the first time since 1993. The Mustangs are now just two victories away from a state title, and will compete at 4 p.m. Friday for a spot in the championship game.

Sunday: Patch fitness columnist Heidi Dietrich shared her experience , a practice that uses hypnosis to treat a variety of mental challenges.
