Redmond Patch Week in Review

Here's a roundup of some of our top stories from the past seven days.

Monday: This week's About Town column , AA Auto Service Center. The independent shop was recently named KING 5/Evening Magazine's best auto repair business and is also giving away free oil changes through Dec. 20 to customers who bring in a toy to donate to the local Boys & Girls Club.

Tuesday: Results from the Nov. 8 election as the King County elections department certified results from around the county. In Redmond, results remained all but unchanged from the early returns, with David Carson and Tom Flynn winning the city's only two contested races.

Wednesday: The Huffington Post, a Patch media partner, in its "Greatest Person of the Day" feature. Robert Kaneko, a tech teacher at Evergreen, and librarian Shauna Yusko were featured in an earlier Redmond Patch story that discussed a program they have developed to teach students how to write, illustrate and publish picture books.

Thursday: Noticed any brightly colored trees near city hall lately? Local fiber artist Suzanne Tidwell of five yarn-adorned trees on Thursday. The miniature "tree socks" collection is a preview of a larger exhibition Tidwell will install at Anderson Park next spring.

Also on Thurday, we and open a new post office in east Redmond in 2012. The agency says the move is financially motivated.

Friday: Friends and family of a 19-year-old Kirkland woman who died from an apparent stabbing wound earlier in the week in a candlelight vigil. Police have said a person of interest is in custody in another jurisdiction.

Saturday: Volunteers to continue passing out fliers seeking information on the whereabouts of Sky Metalwala, a 2-year-old Redmond boy who has been missing since Nov. 6. Police still have not named any suspects or made any arrests in the toddler's disappearance.
