Redmond Patch Week in Review

Here's a look at some of our top stories from the past seven days.

Monday: We started the week off with a profile of Orange Blossom Society owner Sharman Ghio, who says she's created her dream business here in Redmond.

Tuesday: passed by Metropolitan King County Council  requiring the use of personal flotation devices (PFDs) on major King County rivers, due to extreme conditions this year. The ordinance will expire at the end of October.

Wednesday: Eastsiders have a reprieve from long-anticipated tolling on the State Route 520 bridge, which is now expected to begin sometime in August. Find out more about it by .

Thursday: A group of Redmond residents to a proposed bicycle park in Hartman Park, claiming it is too big for the site, neighbors weren’t properly informed, and the boundaries of a nearby wetland weren’t properly outlined to adequately protect it.

Meanwhile, we learned that students in the Lake Washington School District will attend class for 181 days during the 2011-12 school year as part of and help prepare schools for the system's upcoming grade reconfiguration.

Friday: U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, who has represented the 1st Congressional District in the House of Representatives for more than a decade, said he for governor on Monday.
