Monthly Meeting of Redmond Historical Society

History is happening in the Redmond area and we welcome you to our meeting.  The Redmond Historical Society will meet on Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80 Street, Redmond, WA.   Lorraine McConaghy will be speaking on “New Work on an Old War: The Civil War in the Pacific Northwest.”  As she curates the upcoming Civil War exhibition for Washington State Historical Society, she has broadened her understanding of how settlers experienced the antebellum, wartime, and reconstruction periods.  Learn more about the meaning of the 150 anniversary of the Civil War.  She will also speak about the statewide Civil War Read-In, and extend an invitation to join with hundreds of other Washingtonians to research the territory’s hidden Civil War.  Don’t miss this meeting. To receive the monthly newsletter, contact the Society office at 425-885-2919, or email your request to info@redmondhistoricalsociety.org.   Books, note cards, free historic walking tour brochures, and the book, “Redmond Reflections,” are available in our office, which is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Visit our website: redmondhistoricalsociety.org.
