Nutritional deficiencies and imbalances have a large role in the development and genetic programming of the brain, from before birth up until the moment of death.  Dr. Shah and Dr. Lowe Carlson will discuss the most important of these nutritional interactions and their impacts upon fetal and infant brain development, depressive disorders, Alzheimer's and other dementia, and Autism spectrum disorders through orthomolecular medicine.

About the presenters: Jean Lowe Carlson has a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, and a BA in Biology from Oberlin College.  Her certifications' include: Advanced Homeopath and Advanced CranioSacral Techniques.  Dr. Carlson has experience in treating all types of patients: diabetes, cardiovascular care, adjunct cancer care, immune and HIV wellness, IV therapy, and women’s health.  She is affiliated with the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians (WANP), and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP).  Dr. Carlson is joined by Dr. Sheetal Shah.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA. During her 5 years of Doctoral studies at Bastyr, Dr. Shah studied all the requirements of contemporary western medicine as well as Ayurveda, traditional Chinese Medicine, European nature cure, homeopathy and western herbalism.  She is currently pursuing an Ayurvedic Practitioner degree.  Her certifications’ include: Advanced CranioSacral therapy with Integrative Therapeutics (ITI) and Counseling.
