Redmond Lights Special Events at VALA Art Studio

In conjunction with the VALA Art Studio: Artist in
Residence (AIR) Program, a holiday venue for artists in action in Redmond Town
Center, *VALA will host special events for the community to meet local
artists in action, purchase handmade arts and participate in art activities
including music and dance performances. All events will take place in the
former Borders Bookstore at 16549 NE 74th Street.

On the day of the annual celebration, Redmond Lights, VALA Art Studio presents a pop-up show of artwork from the Redmond Historical Society displaying artifacts and a series of panels documenting Redmond's history -- from the first people at least 10,000 years ago, to our annual tradition of Derby Days. "We hope that by showcasing Redmond's unique history we can inspire folks to better appreciate and protect our heritage," said Miguel Llanos, a society co-founder and its community liaison, "It's part of what we have in common as Redmond residents -- and a way to find a sense of place and connection with our neighbors."

Also on December 7th, VALA Art Studio hosts a poetry reading by RASP (Redmond Association of Spokenword) at 12:00pm.
