Pet of the Week: Ben the Shepherd Mix

Ben's a 5-year-old walking buddy looking for a forever home. Could it be yours?

Meet Ben, a lap dog hidden in a medium dog’s body! He is about 5 years old and just wants to be close to his person, as you can see in his picture at a recent adoption day event.

Ben will put his head in your lap the second you sit down. He reaches up to "hug" you with his paw and is a completely loyal and devoted guy. Ben would love someone who works at home during the day or is retired and looking for a walking buddy. But he will bond with anyone who commits to keeping him for the rest of his life! He just wants to be loved and would be so grateful to be part of a family again. He was put into foster care after 11th Hour Rescue noticed his darling little face at an animal shelter in Idaho.

He is great on a leash and fine with other dogs. He also is good with kids, especially if they want to cuddle instead of roughhouse. Ben does not jump up and can sit and lay down. He is also neutered and up to date on vaccinations. A middle aged dog like Ben gives you the best of everything: no crazy and destructive puppy behavior, housebroken, well mannered, and many years left to give his love to someone.

If you are interested in meeting Ben and giving him the best years of his life, please email 11th Hour at dogfarm@gmail.com or go on their Petfinder.com website to obtain an adoption application. There is an adoption donation for each animal in order to cover expenses, neutering and transportation, and also to allow the volunteers to continue their animal rescue work.

11th Hour Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Issaquah is a small, independent collection of animals and animal lovers. Founded in 2004, it is a safe haven for animals of all kinds, including dogs, llamas, alpacas and goats. It is dedicated to the rescue of animals that would otherwise face a certain death in high kill shelters across the nation. Its focus is saving dogs that are down to their last hours and in urgent need of rescue.

11th Hour does not have a brick and mortar shelter, but instead works with loving foster families to keep the dogs until permanent homes are found.  All dogs have been vaccinated and spayed and neutered. Any donations go toward the continued rescue work.
