The Redmond Arts Commission is seeking 10 poets to be a part of the 2012 Redmond Centennial Poetry Anthology. Redmond is turning 100 this year and to celebrate, Redmond's Poet Laureate is seeking poets to help her create a Poetry Anthology in celebration of this major event.
The Redmond Centennial Poetry Anthology is a series of poems written in response to historical photos of Redmond. The Poetry Anthology will be published in digital form on Redmond’s Centennial website, www.100years.Redmond.gov

Redmond Poet Laureate, Rebecca Meredith will work with 10 chosen poets at four Tuesday evening workshops during the month of April to craft their individual poems and develop skills in public presentation of their poetry. Each poem should speak to the photograph in some way, be it the image itself, the historical event it depicts, or its statement about universal human experience. It is our hope that the Poetry Anthology will help capture and express the spirit of Redmond as we move forward into the next 100 years.
All the poems and historical photographs will be published during the month of May on the Redmond Centennial website, and each poet will present his or her poem at a culminating public event on June 9 at in Redmond.

Poets who have a connection to Redmond and are interested in helping celebrate Redmond’s history through poetry are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 13, 2012
