The Universal Truth of Authenticity

Did you know that you are the answer to everything you are facing in life? Let me explain my findings on countless hours of research combined with life experience.

Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.  ~Harvey Fierstein

What if I could tell you that you personally held the answers within you to everything that you are facing in life…

Would you believe me?

How many times in life have we wondered, "What if this event didn't happen?" or "What if I made this choice instead of that one?" In other words how many what if statements are clouding your judgement of today, filled with regrets, filled with the past and ignoring the present. Yes, I said ignoring the present. If you're too busy thinking of the past, you are not thinking about the now which leads to tomorrow. If tomorrow never comes, it's because you were stuck in the what if, the past, and not looking at the blessings you have now.

To which I hear, "I'll take complex thoughts for One Million Dollars, please Alex". Yes, of course there would be a Jeopardy statement somewhere and this is indeed one of those million-dollar questions. How often do we put money into reinventing ourselves whether it's clothing and haircuts or money spent in therapy sessions to find out what the childhood connection is to our adulthood anger and depression, it could even be from the expectations placed upon us by society, culture and religion… Between money and our authentic selves being lost somewhere down the funnel, we at some point in our lives stop and realize that we are barking up a tree, it's just not the one we want to be barking at. Money is an illusion, it won't make you happy. So how do you figure out what happiness is in a materialistic world. If you're singing or thinking of Madonna right now, well…

Moving along! What would happen if we decided to forgive ourselves for our past mistakes, and accept that this is who we are right now… today? Would you be able to do it? What could you do in service to others, out of acts of kindness to bring that Love back to yourself? What changes would you need to make to personally accept yourself?

Yes, these questions are stumpers, but the answer is simple… Start now! You know what it is that you need. You know what it is that you want, and you are the only person that knows what the next step is. Take some time out for yourself, grab a writing pad and pen, or your iPhone or iPad… whatever works, and sit down or lay down, again, whatever words… let your Inner Wisdom… your inner self do the talking.

Often, more times than not, what stumps us is our inability to hear our own Inner Voice. Trust me when I say that our Inner Voice is bound to get grumpy and throw all sorts of confusion and random spitfire thoughts through your mind that were so completely off base you had to actually ask yourself, "Where the heck did that come from?" There's a reason… You know those times where you walked into a room, and you knew that if you continued walking to the right something would happen, but you kept walking anyway and ended up falling into the dessert tray in a high end restaurant? If you answered no, congratulations for listening to your gut instinct! If you answered yes, listen to your gut instinct!!!

Here's the secret to everything: We know the answers!

Start thinking of life in terms of, "I want…" and make the list! Yes, make the list and post it to where you can see it everyday! Work on the top five things that come to mind, and then cross them out as you accomplish them. Better yet, place the list on the mirror that you look into every morning with a personal message from me…

Remember to smile! Yes… Seriously!!!

Take a giant leap off of the ledge of your safety box. By safety box, I mean step away from your normal routine, patterns that create your daily life. The routine that you feel "safe" doing, simply because you are accustomed to doing it. By stepping away and experiencing something new, you are giving yourself something unexpected… a breath of fresh air. Stop doing the, "What would it be like…", you only live once. Help yourself to release the past and accept the now without judgements, doubts or fears.

Remember the Golden Rule: The only person that can judge you is yourself, otherwise… you're simply placing judgements while looking in the mirror. [Mystery Statement]

The renewal of your mind will strengthen your entire being. The physical, the spiritual and it will also strengthen your relationships.

Everything in life…
… is a choice. Live it well!

May your path be well lit!

Love,

~ Melissa

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
