Overlake Composite Squadron

A brief history of the Redmond based Civil Air Patrol squadron.

Overlake Composite Squadron was formed in 1995 to serve the east-side communities. The term 'Composite' denotes that the unit is composed of both cadets aged 12-20 and senior members, over age 21. The squadron currently has 46 cadets and 24 senior members. There are 1,500 members in 27 squadrons across Washington state.

For 15 years our squadron made its home in the basement of VFW Post 2995 on 148th Ave NE on the border between Redmond and Bellevue. Just over a year ago we moved into our new home in the Lake Washington School District Resource Center, located in the Redmond Town Center.

The LWSD facilities provide us with wonderful classrooms for our aerospace classes, high-tech teaching aids for the instructors, and enough room for the cadets to stand in formation inside when it rains. We are very appreciative of the opportunity to meet in this fine facility.

Our meeting location is very close to the Sammamish River trail system and you might see the cadets running during their physical fitness training.

The squadron meets every Tuesday evening from 6:45 − 9:00pm.  www.overlakecap.org
