Steve Albers, a Tacoma businessman, died from injuries sustained in the club's annual Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day (RAMROD) ride.

A 60-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a crash during a Redmond Cycling Club event, reports Seattle Bike Blog.

Steve Albers, a Tacoma insurance company president, died after crashing last Thursday during the club's annual Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day (RAMROD) event. The challenging 152-mile ride features 10,000 feet of climbing and descending, according to Seattle Bike Blog.

Redmond Cycling Club posted the following note on its website:

It is with sadness that we share the news that Steve Albers, a Northwest resident and RAMROD 2012 participant, passed away from injuries he sustained in a single bike accident during the descent from Inspiration Point to Box Canyon during the event.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Albers family and friends.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
