Bellevue Pedestrian Critically Injured by SUV in Overlake Collision

A Bellevue woman suffered significant injuries early Wednesday after being struck by a SUV, according to Bellevue Police. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.

The 60-year-old woman struck by an SUV on Northeast 20th Street Wednesday morning was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit, according to the Bellevue Police Department.

A Bellevue pedestrian was taken to Overlake Hospital Medical Center after being struck by an SUV early Wednesday, and the driver was arrested, according to .

The pedestrian, a 60-year-old Bellevue resident, was on her way to work when she crossed Northeast 20th Street in the middle of the 15200 block around 7:20 a.m. and was struck by an eastbound Ford SUV, said Bellevue Police spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate.

The car didn't appear to slow down before striking the woman, who was not crossing the street in a crosswalk, Iafrate said.

The 28-year-old driver of the car, also from Bellevue, was intoxicated when Bellevue police officers talked to him, according to officers, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault, Iafrate said.

The road was bocked for several hours for the investigation, Iafrate said. The woman suffered significant injuries from the collision, but her condition as of Wednesday afternoon was unavailable, she said.
