Clyde Hill Officer Shoots, Wounds Suspect in Stolen Truck

A Clyde Hill police officer shot at a stolen pickup truck with two suspects in it after it rammed a police cruiser and tried to run over the officer late Friday night.

The maroon Dodge Ram truck, which had been stolen from a Woodinville residence Friday night, then sped away and crashed in the 1800 block of 96th Ave. NE in Clyde Hill just west of Bellevue, and the two men inside ran off, said Bellevue Police spokeswoman Officer Carla Iafrate in a statement issued early Saturday.

The officer was not hurt.

Bellevue Police and Kirkland Police K9 units tracked for the suspects, and the passenger was found a few blocks away in the 9300 block of NE 14th St. He was arrested and taken to Overlake Hospital Medical Center with a “superficial gunshot wound to the arm” and was later booked into King County Jail, Iafrate said in a statement.

Police didn’t find the driver, who was described as a white man, 18-20 years old, approximately 5 foot 7 or 5 foot 8 with platinum blonde short hair, wearing sweatpants and athletic type shoes.

The incident started in Woodinville, where police say the two suspects stole the truck when it was left running in a driveway. There were several reports of a recklessly driven stolen truck, which ended up in Clyde Hill.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the driver of the vehicle to call 911 and ask for the on-duty officer at Clyde Hill Police Department.
