Donnelly Sworn In As New Fire Chief

The fire department's new executive began work on Monday.

The Redmond Fire Department officially has a new chief, following the swearing in of at city hall on Tuesday evening. Donnelly, who was formerly fire chief of Lodi, Calif., began his new job Monday.

The brief ceremony included the official swearing in by King County District Court Judge Michael Finkle and a reception hosted by the Redmond Firefighters’ Union.

Donnelly said he and his wife Cathy moved in to their new home in Redmond on Saturday but are still getting settled. So far, he said, the city has been very appealing.

"It's beautiful," he said. "We're really enjoying it."

Donnelly, 54, to lead the fire department following the January retirement of Fire Chief Tim Fuller.
