'Drugstore Cowboy' Author Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison

James Fogle, 74, pleaded guilty to robbing a Redmond pharmacy in 2010.

Drugstore Cowboy author James Fogle, 74, was sentenced to 15 years and 9 months in prison this afternoon at the King County Courthouse, according to the King County Prosecutor's website.

Fogle robbed the Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy in Redmond last year and pleaded guilty last month to first-degree robbery with a firearm enhancement.

Fogle's long criminal career and book inspired Portland director Gus Van Sant to make the critically acclaimed film Drug Store Cowboy in 1989.
