Elderly Redmond Woman Arrested for DUI After Nearly Hitting Police Car

The 79-year-old woman was arrested by Mercer Island Police on Thanksgiving Day.

An elderly Redmond woman was arrested by Mercer Island Police on Thanksgiving Day after she allegedly drove the wrong way on Southeast 27th Street and nearly struck a patrol car.

The incident, which was included in a recent Mercer Island Police blotter (see attached PDF), took place at around 11 p.m. on Nov. 22.

Police said the woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and given a courtesy ride home.
