Elderly Renton Couple Strangled, Medical Examiner Says

The King County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death Thursday. Their grandson, Michael Boysen, is suspected in their deaths.

The Renton area couple killed in their home last week were strangled, the King County Medical Examiner said Thursday.

Robert R. Taylor, 82, and Norma J. Taylor, 80, died Saturday, March 9, shortly after they had picked up their grandson, 26-year-old Michael Boysen, from prison and threw a welcome home party for him at their home in unincorporated Renton. The manner of death was homicide, according to the medical examiner.

Boysen was taken into police custody on suspicion of murder on Tuesday at a Lincoln City, OR, motel after he had seriously injured himself with a knife. According to The Associated Press, he is under police guard in a Portland hospital and was upgraded to serious condition on Wednesday.

King County Prosecutor's spokesman Dan Donohoe could not be reached for comment for this story Thursday; no charges have yet been filed in the case.
