Holiday Weekend Police Blotter: Four Garages Burglarized Friday Night

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Monday.

are investigating a string of burglaries that happened overnight Friday in the downtown Redmond area.

Department spokesman Jim Bove said investigators believe the same individual or group of people is responsible for the break-ins, which all took place in the 18600 block of Northeast 55th and 57th ways.

In each burglary, the suspect or suspects entered through the garage and broke into the victims' vehicles, Bove said. None of the houses was accessed.

In three of the four burglaries, the thief or thieves entered the garage through an unlocked access door; the fourth home had its garage access door pried open. Five of the six vehicles that were broken into were also left unlocked.

Stolen items included a gun, iPod, sunglasses and a USB cable.

Bove said the incidents are reminders of the importance of securing all valuable belongings.

"Many of these could have been prevented by locking all doors to the garages and removing valuable items," he said in an email.

8:05 a.m., 15800 block of Redmond Way: Redmond Police investigated an incident of malicious mischief at a local grocery store parking lot.

10:24 a.m., 14800 block of Redmond Way: Police responded to a report of domestic violence assault.

10:42 a.m., 15100 block of NE 24th St.: Redmond Police responded to a bank robbery. The investigation is ongoing.

11:30 a.m., 17200 block of NE 104th St.: Police responded to a theft in the Education Hill area.

12:05 p.m., 15300 block of Redmond Way: Redmond Police took a bike theft report.

12:10 p.m., 16300 block of NE 87th St.: Equipment from a health clinic was reported stolen.

12:52 p.m., 17200 block of Redmond Way: Police responded to a theft from a building.

1:42 p.m., 16200 block of NE 83rd St.: Police arrested a 23-year-old Kirkland man on suspicion of assault, harassment and obstructing.

4:24 p.m., 4200 block of 162nd Ave. NE: Redmond Police responded to a report of a vehicle prowl. A computer and cell phone were stolen. 

6:47 p.m., 16100 block of NE 87th St.: Redmond Police investigated a car prowl in a local business parking lot. The victim's front passenger window was smashed, and a purse was stolen.

9:12 p.m., 16500 block of Redmond Way: Officers responded to a report of a car prowl that had occurred approximately 10 minutes prior.

10:08 p.m., 16800 block of Redmond Way: Police arrested a 30-year-old Renton man on suspicion of DUI.

Thursday, Nov. 24

12:58 a.m., 16700 block of NE 87th St.: Redmond Police arrested a 30-year-old Redmond man on suspicion of reckless driving, DUI and obstruction.

2:50 a.m., 13200 block of Old Redmond Road: Police arrested a 19-year-old Bellevue man on suspicion of DUI.

3:51 p.m., 11900 block of 165th Place NE: Redmond Police investigated a report of a vehicle prowl in a local neighborhood. The suspect(s) broke the window and took items from inside.

6:09 p.m., 11700 block of 167th Place NE: Police investigated a theft from a vehicle.

Friday, Nov. 25

11:42 a.m., 15900 block of NE 98th St.: A Redmond man's unemployment check was fraudulently cashed at an unknown location.

3:19 p.m., 9400 block of Avondale Road: Redmond Police investigated a report of drug activity at a local apartment complex.

8:56 p.m., 7100 block of 134rd Ave. NE: Redmond Police responded to a disturbance at a local residence. A 27-year-old Carnation man had an outstanding warrant and was arrested. Search incident to arrest revealed he was in possession of what is believed to be heroin.

10:09 p.m., 15200 block of NE 116th St.: Redmond Police contacted a vehicle with two occupants who were found to be in possession of marijuana.

10:40 p.m., 2500 block of 152nd Ave. NE: Police responded to a report of domestic violence.

Saturday, Nov. 26

1:40 a.m., 7800 block of Leary Way: Redmond Police responded to a car prowl. The vehicle was left unlocked, and a camera and tri-pod were taken.

9:49 a.m., 11700 block of 157th Ave. NE: Police responded to a theft from a vehicle.

9:56 a.m., 2500 block of 152nd Ave. NE: Victim reported his locked vehicle was prowled, sometime last night, and his wallet was stolen. Victim closed his bank accounts prior to any fraudulent activity.

10:31 a.m., 15800 block of Bear Creek Parkway: Redmond Police were contacted by a local woman who wanted to file report in reference to threats she received.

11:24 a.m., 9600 block of 172nd Ave. NE: Police responded to a theft from a vehicle.

3:57 p.m., 18600 block of NE 57th Way: Redmond Police responded to a reported burglary that occurred at a local residence.

6:31 p.m., 18600 block of NE 55th Way: Redmond Police responded to a reported burglary that occurred at a local residence.

7:17 p.m., 18600 block of NE 55th Way: Redmond Police investigated the report of a residential burglary.

8:59 p.m., 18600 block of NE 57th Way: Redmond Police investigated the report of a residential burglary.

Sunday, Nov. 27

8:44 a.m., 18600 block of Redmond Way: A man reported that his girlfriend was fleeing the state with the couple's children.

9:07 a.m., 10700 block of 151st Court NE: A vehicle was stolen overnight while parked in victim's driveway.

5:58 p.m., 16800 block of NE 91st St.: Redmond Police investigated a report of fraud at a local residence. The victim's bank information was used to make an unauthorized online purchase.

9:58 p.m., 16600 block of NE 108th Place: Redmond Police responded to a residence for a possible DUI. The reporting party advised her mentally unstable daughter was under the influence of drugs and was attempting to leave in her vehicle. After police arrived, the suspect assaulted an officer by striking him in the face. The suspect was transported to the hospital and will be charged through investigation.

10:48 p.m., 17600 block of Union Hill Road: Redmond Police responded to a shoplift in progress. The suspect was not located, but was later identified by a video.
