Man Found Dead in Van Near Redmond Ridge Identified

The man who was found dead in a van March 4 near Redmond Ridge has been identified. The crash did not kill him, according to authorities.

The man who was found dead in a van March 4 near Redmond Ridge has been identified.

The man was 60-year-old Irvin Giesler from Redmond, according to King County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Cindi West.  

He did not die as the result of the crash, West told Patch. His manner of death has been listed as pulmonary embolism, which reportedly took place prior to the crash.

According to the Mayo Clinic website, pulmonary embolism is blockage in one or more arteries in the lungs, which in most cases is caused by blood clots that travel to the lungs from another part of your body — most commonly, the legs. 

Giesler was found in a vehicle near Novelty Hill and Redmond Ridge Drive NE March 4 by area real estate agents, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. At the time they said it appeared the man was involved in a crash that may have been undiscovered for a week or more.

A representative from the King County Medical Examiner's Office told Patch Giesler's estimated date of death is listed as March 1.
