Man Robbed Near Transit Center by Suspect Who Claimed to Have Gun

Police spokesman Jim Bove said the victim was told by an acquaintance to meet him at the location prior to the robbery.

A man reported being robbed near the downtown Redmond transit center at about 11 p.m. Sunday night by a suspect who claimed to have a gun, according to spokesman Jim Bove.

The victim told police that an acquaintance asked him to meet near the transit center, Bove said. When the victim parked on Northeast 83rd Street and exited his vehicle, he was attacked from behind by an unknown suspect who dragged him to a path between some apartments and the transit center, Bove said.

"The victim was instructed to give (the suspect) his wallet and cell phone or else he would be shot," Bove told Patch in an email.

Bove said the suspect never showed a gun and was accompanied by a second suspect who watched the incident but never said anything. Both suspects fled together northbound on 161st Avenue Northeast, he said.

No one was injured in the altercation, Bove said, and police are still investigating the incident.
