Medical Examiner Rules 4-Year-Old Sammamish Girl's Death Accidental

The King County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation, but the King County Medical Examiner has ruled 4-year-old Victoria Churin's death an accidental hanging.

Victoria Churin, a 4-year-old Sammamish resident, died from asphyxia due to an accidental hanging, the King County Medical Examiner said.

The King County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case, in which the young girl  on Tuesday evening of Tuesday while playing on the playground at in Sammamish as her twin brother and two caregivers picked berries nearby.

The boy told authorities his sister had been playing with a jump rope around her neck and that he had told her to stop, said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said the initial investigation the night of the accident was difficult due to language barriers.
