Former Microsoft Manager Pleads Not Guilty to Rape of Janitor

Vineet Kumar Srivastava's next hearing is set for September, according to reports.

Vineet Kumar Srivastava has pleaded not guilty of raping a Microsoft cleaning worker in King County Superior Court, KOMO news reports.

Srivasta, a former Microsoft program manager, is charged with second-degree rape, accused of sexually assaulting a janitor in his office on the Redmond campus last month, according to media reports.

According to King County prosecutors, Vineet Kumar Srivastava, 36, raped a cleaning worker after luring her into his office on July 22, seattlepi.com reported Monday night. Srivastava reportedly told police that the woman forced him to have sex.

Srivastava approached the woman, who was cleaning at 11 p.m. in building 27, and she went to his office, believing it needed cleaning. He opened her blouse, forced her to view pornography on his cell phone, then raped her, according to court documents cited by KIRO 7.

Srivastava claimed he was fearful of the woman, went to his car to retrieve a condom, and came back to the office to have sex with her, either later removing the trash from his office with the used condom, but telling detectives he drove home with it on and disposed of it at his Redmond home. 

The victim reported the incident to her supervisor, who didn’t believe her or report it to police, the station reported. Another supervisor was told of the assault and called police.

Srivastava was arrested July 26 at his office on campus. He posted bond and is currently free. He no longer works at the company, KING 5 reported.
