Redmond Police Blotter: Suspect Resists Arrest, Pushes Officer

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.

A 31-year-old man is facing charges of assault of an officer and resisting arrest after he allegedly shoved a police officer to the ground during an arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Police spokesman Jim Bove said the man, who is from Spokane but frequently stays with his mother in Redmond, was stopped on a traffic violation in the Grasslawn area. Officers allowed the man, who was driving with a suspended license, to walk with the officers to his mother's house so he could drop off his daughter before being placed under arrest, Bove said.

When they arrived at the house, the suspect became angry that the officers wouldn't allow him to go inside, Bove said. The man allegedly began a physical altercation with the two officers and pushed one of them to the sidewalk.

“It’s somebody that we’ve had incidents with in the past, and he’s actually assaulted an officer before,” Bove said.

The two officers were able to handcuff the suspect, and no major injuries were sustained by either the suspect or the officers, Bove said.
