Redmond Police Blotter: Thieves Continue Stealing Wheels from Parked Cars

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.

The wheels of another vehicle were reported stolen in Redmond on Thursday, the fifth such incident since Jan. 1

Jim Bove, spokesman for the , said most of the incidents have occurred during the night at apartment complexes scattered around the city.

“They’re taking the whole thing—they’re taking the tire and the whole wheel part of it as well,” he said.

Bove said police think the incidents are connected but said it doesn't appear the thieves are targeting any particular type of vehicle.

“We’re guessing that they’re just looking for the high-end car,” he said.

The thieves steal the wheels after jacking up the car, leaving the car elevated so they can flee as quickly as possible. Bove said residents should call police if they notice suspicious activity, such as someone removing multiple tires on a vehicle during the night.

“(People are) not usually going to rotate all their tires in the middle of the night," he said. "To me, that would be suspicious.”
