Redmond Police to Offer Personal Safety Classes for Women

The classes are intended to give participants proactive strategies for staying safe.

The will offer two free women's personal safety classes at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 and Sept. 21.

The classes, which are intended to be proactive rather than self-defense oriented, are open to girls and women who are 15 years old or older.

Some of the topics that will be addressed include:

  • How to prevent becoming the victim of crime
  • Potentially dangerous situations and how to avoid them
  • How to handle β€œroad rage” and prevent accidents
  • Pros and cons of weapons for personal security

Both classes will take place at the department's training room at the station headquarters, which is located at 8701 160th Ave. NE in Redmond. To register, send your name, email address and the date of the class you would like to attend to kcorbray@redmond.gov.
